How to See If You’re Showing Up in Google’s AI Overviews

Quick Answer: Google just added a new report in Search Console that shows you if you’re showing up in Google’s AI Overviews. Find it under Performance, then Search results, then the new Generative AI tab. It shows impressions only, not clicks, and Google is rolling it out slowly, so you may not have the tab yet. If you don’t, a separate AI visibility tool can check for you in the meantime.

To see if you’re showing up in Google’s AI Overviews, open the brand new Generative AI report inside Google Search Console. For two years, every SEO blog told you this was impossible to track and that you had to check by hand. That changed in June 2026, when Google added a dedicated report that finally shows which of your pages appear in AI Overviews and AI Mode.

We have tested AI Overview behavior over 100 times across our clients, and this report is the first time Google has shown its own hand. Here is how to find it, how to read it, and the honest truth about whether any of it matters yet.

How Do You See If You’re Showing Up in Google’s AI Overviews?

You see if you’re showing up in Google’s AI Overviews by opening the Generative AI report in Search Console and checking the Pages tab. Every URL listed there has appeared inside an AI Overview or AI Mode answer. If your page is on the list, Google is pulling from it. If it is not, you are not in the AI answers yet.

Here is the exact path to check:

  1. Open Google Search Console and pick your website
  2. Click Performance in the left menu
  3. Click Search results
  4. Look for the new Generative AI tab and click it
  5. Click the Pages tab under the chart to see which URLs are getting pulled into AI answers

If you do not see the Generative AI tab yet, you are not doing anything wrong. Google is only giving it to some sites right now. While you wait, you can run your site through our AI visibility checker to see if you show up in AI answers, which works even if you do not have the new tab yet and also covers ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity, which Google’s report does not.

Where Is the New Generative AI Report in Search Console?

The new Google Search Console Generative AI report showing total impressions in AI Overviews over three months.

The new Generative AI report sits inside Search Console under Performance, then Search results, as its own tab next to your normal data. Google announced it in early June 2026 and started rolling it out a few sites at a time.

The report breaks your AI visibility down four ways, according to Google’s own announcement:

  • Impressions: how often your URLs showed up in AI features
  • Pages: which of your pages are getting pulled in
  • Countries: where the searchers are
  • Devices: desktop, mobile, or tablet

You can also set the date range to watch your AI visibility climb or drop over time. That date view is the most useful part, and we will come back to why in a minute.

Why Don’t You See the Generative AI Tab Yet?

You do not see the Generative AI tab yet because Google is rolling it out in stages, not to everyone at once. It started with a small group of sites and has been slowly reaching more accounts since June 2026. Two of our own clients got it on the early beta, and most did not.

If you do not have it, just keep checking back over the next few weeks. There is nothing to turn on and no setting to flip. It either shows up for your property or it has not reached you yet.

Does the Report Show Clicks From AI Overviews?

No, the report does not show clicks from AI Overviews. It only shows impressions, which means how often you appeared, not how many people clicked through to your site. There is no click data, no click-through rate, and no keyword data in this report right now.

That is the big catch. You can see that Google used your page in an AI answer, but you cannot yet see if anyone clicked because of it. Google has said it may add more data later, so this is a starting point.

Do AI Overview Impressions Actually Matter?

AI Overview impressions on their own do not pay your bills, and we want to be straight about that. The same is true of a blog post that gets a ton of reads. Even when people click, the odds of one visitor turning into a paying customer are low, especially for home service businesses.

So why bother? Because impressions build trust, and trust is what moves your whole site up. When Google keeps pulling a page into its AI answers, it is telling you it sees that page as a reliable source. That trust lifts the momentum of your entire website, including your money pages.

Think about a blog post that pulls 100 visitors a day. You probably will not get much direct business from it. But it makes your main service pages easier to rank, especially when that trusted post links to them. Those internal links act like a recommendation. A link from a page Google already trusts passes real authority to the page it points to. Picture a backlink, except it is happening inside your own site, page to page.

We have watched AI Overviews do the exact same thing. You might not get a flood of direct clicks, but the citations build trust for that page and your whole domain. That trust then helps you get recommended for other things in AI results, like your actual services, and helps you rank higher in regular search too.

Here is a real example. We consistently show up in AI Overviews for Broken Arrow SEO searches. That happens because our Broken Arrow SEO page is built with real trust signals, real data, real opinions, and real case studies, and it answers legit questions while pulling internal links from our high-performing posts. Most people assume only blog posts get cited, and informational pages do tend to get pulled more often. But main service pages can earn citations too, and people do take action from those.

Do People Actually Click or Call From AI Overviews?

People do call from AI Overviews, even though the new report cannot prove it with click data yet. We have personally taken calls where the caller said the AI recommended us. Plenty of our clients hear the same thing from their own customers.

The pattern we see most is that “best” searches convert the best. Think “best roofer in Tulsa” or “best plumber near me.” When you back that up with awards and other trust signals, AI tends to favor you, and the people who act on those answers are ready to buy. We also expect a lot more clicking to come from AI Overviews soon, as Google tunes them to recommend a few specific businesses inside each answer. For the ChatGPT side of this same shift, we broke it down in our guide on whether ChatGPT is sending you traffic.

What We’ve Seen in Our Own Client Data

Across the two clients who got the beta report, a plumbing company and a law firm, the early data tells a clear story. Their AI impressions went up while clicks on those informational pages went down, which lines up with how AI Overviews work. But at the same time, their branded searches jumped noticeably, meaning more people were looking them up by name after seeing them.

Even better, both of those sites are performing better overall than they ever have, by more than ten times their old numbers. So while the AI Overview report shows some clicks slipping on info pages, the bigger picture says the trust is helping everything else.

One trick that is working incredibly well right now: on informational pages like cost and pricing questions, we add pricing calculators and interactive tools that force the click. The AI can summarize a paragraph, but it cannot give the user your calculator, so they come to your site to use it. We also find that very specific long-tail questions earn the most citations. Instead of writing “how much does a service cost,” we write “how much does a service cost in a 2,000 square foot home.” Pages like that pull in huge numbers of AI citations for our clients because they answer the exact question people ask.

So Should You Care About This Report?

You should glance at this report, not obsess over it, at least until Google adds click data. Right now its best use is simple. If your clicks suddenly dropped, this report tells you whether AI Overviews are the reason. That answer alone is worth the two-minute check.

Beyond that, it mostly answers the one question business owners keep asking, which is “am I even showing up in AI?” It is a tool to guide your decisions on certain topics and to calm your nerves about traffic changes. It is helpful, but it is not a make-or-break dashboard yet. For the full picture of why your impressions and clicks have split apart, read our breakdown on impressions up but clicks down.

Is AI Killing SEO?

No, AI is not killing SEO, and anyone telling you SEO is dead is wrong. Google has flat out confirmed that optimizing for search is the same as optimizing for AI search. The work that earns you regular rankings is the same work that earns you AI citations.

So the businesses winning AI Overviews are the same ones doing SEO right. Strong content, real trust signals, fast sites, and smart internal links still carry the day. The game did not end. It just added a new scoreboard.
